Mrs. Rita Virginia Spivey, 49, died Monday morning (December 4, 2006) at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL after a brief illness.
She is a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She was employed as a graphic design artist.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, president of the Arc of Satilla, former president of the Council of Catholic Women, graduate of the Georgia Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, and was a member of Partners in Policy Making.
She is the daughter of the late John VanLiempd and Mildred Thrift VanLiempd.
Survivors include her husband, James A. Spivey, Jr. of Waycross; her son, James Joseph Spivey of Waycross; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Spivey and William Davis of Hoboken; grandson, Adrian Spivey Davis of Hoboken; two brothers, Michael VanLiempd of Waycross, and John VanLiempd (wife Esther) of Orlando, FL; and two god-daughters, Michell and Lauren Hancock of Blackshear.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (December 9, 2006) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Memorialization is by cremation.
