10-18-09: Notes from Robin Swain Heavilon
Colleen Grant Youmans lost her husband, Harold, a few weeks ago. (Sept 28, 2009). ( Obituary. Video tribute). The class sent flowers; one classmate questioned "do we send to spouses?" Don't know of our history except for the 10+ yrs since I have returned home. Yet I felt this was appropriate. Yes we are there-- grandchildren for some, retirement for others and the loss of spouses. Colleen is doing well, I spoke to her the day of the visitation.
Jeanne Goble Tucker has a new granddaughter. Kaye James Walker's medical procedure at Emory was successful last week. She is a colon cancer survivor.
Phil Lindsay remarried recently (Sharon's husband). Mrs Bennett had double knee replacement surgery earlier this month with rehab in Jax, Brooks Rehab. Sonja (Sharon's sister) is still undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
Mary Anne is making preliminary planning for our reunion next year.
We recently made trips to West Va for a family reunion and to Panama City Beach for a food show. Our stores and new puppy, Max, keeps us busy.
Have a great fall. Colleen's address is 130 Lakeview Dr Blackshear, Ga 31516

Received email from Paul Greico, Sonja's husband. Her PET scan did not yield good results. Not full results are known but prayer requested. Sonja celebrated her 46th bday on Aug 9. She is fighting IV stage lung cancer- survived 2 yrs since initial diagnosis in Sept of 2007- originally given 6 months.
Request prayer. Kaye James Walker will be at Emory on Monday for consultation. Keep her in your prayers along with Brenda Music Strickland as she consults drs in Jax regarding seizures.
On a good note, Jeanne is expecting a new granddaughter at any time. Randall Thrift had lunch with me today- he is doing well considering his near fatal incident yrs ago. His son is attending the local college with a goal of becoming a forrester with the DNR. The first member in his family to attend college- Randall is a proud Papa.
Debra Bryant Barber celebrates a birthday Aug 22. Janet's husband, Tildon has a birthday Aug 24.

Janet Cauley Vinci's service was nice. Easter prevented alot of classmates from attending. Janet's marker will be ready in approx 3 months, maybe the class can host something at that time. I sent flowers - we had adequate funds. Tildon mentioned Benny Joyner by name and said they received the class emails. Geronimo Starling attended and I overheard Tildon say "Just two weeks ago, Janet and I were talking about you". Geronimo is on another medical leave. Debra Boyd Hersey's brother, Travis has died. His obit in on Miles Odum website. Tildon resumes flying in a few weeks. I am headed to W VA / DC area tomorrow for a few days with Rick's family.

Robin,
This is Tildon, Eveyone is welcome this Sat - particularly any of Janet's friends. I am not sure what the previous E-mail stated as I have a lot (Cathy) of help and the last 72 hrs have been a blur. My extended family is driving into town and many do not travel well. For this reason it will be a bit of a reunion for my family at the Holiday Inn. These are the N.C. and north GA.; people who so love Janet and have not seen us enough since the RDU base closed. We are putting together a series of photos featuring small portions of Janet's life and would love as many as possible at her memorial and graveside. I should let you know a viewing period is not possible but we will gather at Miles-Odum at 1:30 for a family visit period prior to the 2:pm memorial. Janet was stricken suddenly and actually fell into my arms after noticing a sudden headache. She did not suffer at all. As you would expect of her, she will live on as an organ donor touching dozens of people's lives. I will gladly tell anyone interested more detail after life slows down a bit for us. I am best reached at cell 772 -475-7148 and short distractions are a blessing for us. Janet loved her days in Waycross and talked often of them. Thank you all for your love, prayers and support.
